Don't Tell Dana!!

I think one of the great things about having an interior designer on our team, is that she knows the RIGHT way to do it all. She has perfect taste. Then there is me. I get compliments all the time on how I stage the homes I list, and on my own home.......but I simply do what I like. That's what I want you to do, and why I would suggest taking another look at sheet vinyl. Yep, I said it, but PLEASE Don't tell Dana you read that. Sure designers are all about luxury vinyl planks, and tiles right now........but there aren't many in the business who on the retail end at least, are pushing it. I used sheet vinyl in three bathrooms and I LOOOOOOOVE it. It gave the bathrooms a bunch (that I could afford to change later if I hated it) and it has made cleanup in those rooms 100% easier.

Here's the ugly before! Two tips. No all white in bathroom for flooring. I thought, we are only getting out of the shower, it could get wet but it likely doesn't get really dirt. Wrong, the gray tile in my old bathroom was masking a lot. This is really embarrassing but look how disgusting this floor is, and it was only a few months old. I also made the mistake of using same floor in two areas.......and hated both. Tip Two, might be good to mix things up next time.

Even though my old luxury vinyl tile was installed without grout lines, those edges where they came together never came clean... I was thinking about putting in real tile.....but I wanted a pop, so I went with the less expensive sheet vinyl with design, texture and a lower budget so if I messed up again I could eventually fix it.

I did not mess up. Here's the after in my master bathroom.

The after in the hubby's bathroom (The lights throw weird shadows on it....but it looks like basketweave tile.)

And the basement bathroom we just went over that really old linoleum like tile they used to use. (someone told me it might even have asbestos in it....yuck.)

So the point is, sometimes getting the look is more important than getting it perfect. If money is tight, there is more than one option, and I would be happy to show you the cheaper one anytime.
